YAMASHITA Yasuyuki, Ph.D. (Associate Professor) [KUID]

Personal Background

  • YAMASHITA Yasuyuki studied sociology, postcolonial studies and area studies (France) and received his M.A. (2017) from Kyoto University. For his doctoral research on Muslims in contemporary French society, he was awarded a fellowship from JSPS (Japan Society for the Promotion of Science) (2017-2020) and effectuated his residency at EHESS (2018-2020) in Paris. In March 2023, he obtained his Ph.D. from Kyoto University.
  • His main research is currently centered on daily practices of middle-class Muslims and islamophobia in France. After lecturing on sociology as a postdoctoral researcher at Doshisha University (2023-2024), he joined Kobe University in October 2024.
